An open house is planned Thursday, Aug. 10, at the new Meridian Elementary School in Mounds.
The open house is scheduled from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
High school graduation and 8th grade promotion celebrations are planned at public schools in Alexander and Pulaski counties.
The schedule for the ceremonies includes:

High school graduation: Saturday, May 20, at 10 a.m.
Eighth grade promotion: Sunday, May 21, at 3 p.m....
Meridian High School plans to host Autism Awareness Night, Shooting for Autism on Saturday, Feb. 11.
The Meridian basketball team will play Marion. The first game begins at 6:15 p.m.
Proceeds from this event go to benefit the Autism Society of Southern Illinois.
Construction continues at the new Meridian Elementary School in Mounds.
Faculty and students have been in trailers for the last couple of years due to mold in the old elementary building. Construction was halted momentarily due to the state not having a budget.
