Missouri man sentenced on drug-related charge

A Missouri has been sentenced after he pleaded guilty to possession of a deadly substance.

Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds said the plea was entered by Jason M. Kendrick, 35, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Kendrick pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a deadly substance, which is a Class 1 felony.

Kendrick entered his plea on Nov. 24 before Judge Charles Cavaness during a hearing at the Union County Courthouse in Jonesboro.

Kendrick will serve six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Edmonds said Kendrick was spotted taking two small tanks of anhydrous ammonia from a business in Ware during the early morning hours of Nov. 11.

Anhydrous ammonia is a substance commonly used in the manufacture of the illegal drug methamphetamine.

Kendrick was arrested following a high-speed chase through Union and Alexander counties by the Union County Sheriff’s Office and the Anna Police Department.

The Union County Drug Task Force also participated in the arrest.
