Mixens married 50 years

The Rev. and Mrs. Kenneth Mixen will celebrate 50 years of marriage on Dec. 24.

Kenneth and Janet Carter Mixen were married on Dec. 24, 1961, at New Hope Baptist Church at Buncombe.

They have three children, Carol McHughes (Jack Pitts) of Anna, Susan (Benny) Joles of Clarksville, Tenn., and Doug (Jeanne) Mixen of Buncombe.

They have seven grandchildren, Joshua Mixen, Caleb and Kimberly Mixen, Lyndsay and April Joles, Jason (Stephanie) Joles and K.C. McHughes; and two great-grandchildren, Laighton Mixen and Serenity McHughes.

Kenneth and Janet’s children are hosting a reception in the couple’s honor Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Super 8 motel in Anna.

The reception will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the conference room at the motel. Family and friends are invited.
