Municipal votes planned
Filing is scheduled to begin Monday, Dec. 13, for next year's municipal elections in Union County communities.
The filing period continues through Monday, Dec. 20.
Elections are scheduled to take place on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, in communities throughout Union County.
Anna, Cobden, Dongola and Jonesboro will be among the communities which will be conducting elections.
In Anna, voters will elect a mayor and four city council members.
Current officeholders in Anna whose terms expire in 2011 include Steve Hartline as mayor, along with city council members David Isom, Ron Stamp, Ricky Tweedy and Martha Ann Webb.
In Cobden, voters will elect three village board of trustees members. Current members whose terms expire next year are Pat Brumleve, Alma Gomez and Frances Swedlund.
Dongola voters will elect three village board of trustees members. Current members whose terms expire in 2011 are Shaun Aden, Greg Corzine and Patrick Ferguson.
In Jonesboro, voters will elect three aldermen. The current officeholders whose terms expire next year are Jimmy Watkins in Ward 1, Archie Hazel in Ward 2 and Mike Stegle in Ward 3.
