Nearly 30 citations issued during deer hunting season
Union County Sheriff David Livesay and Illinois Department of Natural Resources Officer Steve Vasicek report the following activity while working in conjuction during the two weekends of the 2011 firearm deer season:
First Season, Nov. 18-20
Eight written warnings. One rifle seized.
Sixteen citations issued, including:
Two, hunting without permission. Two, hunting with aid of bait. Two, no blaze orange.
One, untagged transport of deer. One, no hunting license. One, no habitat stamp. Two, no non-resident permit.
One, possession of high-powered rifle (deer). One, failure to check in deer. One, no non-resident hunting license. Three, loaded firearm on ATV.
Second Season, Dec. 1-4
Two shotguns seized.
Eleven citations issued, including:
Two, spotlighting from vehicle. Two, transport uncased, loaded firearm. Two, hunting from roadway.
Two, hunting unlawfully between one-half hour after sunset and one-half hour before sunrise.
One, open alcohol. One, controlled substances. One, possession of drug paraphernalia.
