Anna School District receives new computers

Donation of over $50,000

Anna Community Consolidated School District No. 37 recently received a donation of 30 new Lenovo computers, monitors and a high-speed printer courtesy of Gibson Consulting Group LLC.

The donation, totaling over $50,000, follows a 2018 donation of computer equipment of over $50,000 as well, the school district noted.

The firm, with headquarters in Chicago, and offices in Tampa, London, Paris and Shanghai, is a world leader in operational business consulting.

The company’s founder, Wesley Jay Gibson, is a graduate of Carbondale High School, and his mother, the late Frances Louise Farrar Gibson, whom the donation is made in memory of, is a graduate of the Anna-Jonesboro school system.

The school district said in a news release that Anna holds a special place in Mr. Gibson’s heart and memories, as he spent much of his childhood in the Union County community, staying with his grandmother on weekends.

The donated computers will be used to replace desktop computers in the Anna Junior High School student computer lab.

The school district said that “Mr. Gibson’s desire is for students in the Anna and Union County area to explore the world through state of the art technology, and to realize that education levels the world’s playing field for success, and enables them to prosper, compete, and find success and happiness.”

District 37 officials voiced their gratitude to David and Sondra Gould of Anna for initiating the process for the donation.

The school district stated that the “Goulds are long-standing supporters of District 37, the community of Anna, and Union County in general.”
