The Cobden Peach Festival is coming up soon.

The 76th Peach Festival is scheduled Friday and Saturday, Aug. 2-3, at the Cobden Community Park in Cobden.

The Peach Festival is sponsored by the Cobden Lions Club.

The festival is scheduled to open at 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

A wide range of activities are planned at this year's festival, including a queen pageant, a parade, entertainment, games, a 5K run/walk and 1-mile fun run, and food and refreshments – including lots of Cobden peaches.

Initial reports are that the 2013 peach crop is going to be good after a slow start to the growing season.

A Peach Festival parade is set for 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, in Cobden.

The parade again will be sponsored by the Village of Cobden.

The theme for the 2013 parade is "Dog Days of Summer." The village notes that while it is "not necessary to follow the theme, it is fun to do so."

Organizers note that in order to be in the judged competition, entries needed to be submitted prior to July 15.

For more information about the parade, contact Cobden Village Hall by phone at 893-2425.

The 10th annual Cobden Peach Festival 5K run/walk and 1-mile fun run are planned Saturday morning, Aug. 3.

The 5K run is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. Walkers will start first; runners will follow a minute later.

The 1-mile fun run is scheduled to begin after the end of the 5K run, at about 8:30 a.m.
