Authors of local history book grateful for support

The authors of a local history book are voicing appreciation for the support their book has received. Darryl Brown, Rodney Brown and Michelle Brown-Hollin are the authors of the book, titled “Where We’re From: A Southern Illinois Sojourn.” 

They are three siblings who grew up on a farm near Jonesboro from the late 1940s to the late 1990s.The book is a memoir and a history of the area and its times.

 Stinson Memorial Library in Anna hosted a book signing event on Saturday, Aug. 6.  The authors were present, along with representatives of PAST of Union County, The Gathering Place in Anna and the Union County Museum in Cobden.

The authors shared the following message of appreciation:

We three Brown siblings offer a very heartfelt thank you to Stinson Memorial Library for hosting on August 6 the book signing for our book, “Where We’re From: A Southern Illinois Sojourn.”  

The same big thank you goes to the Anna Arts Center for hosting our reception afterwards. They were both wonderful venues who made us proud and happy to be there.

We also give a huge thanks to the three vendors who came to sell the book and display many of their great offerings. There were so many items to peruse that we wish we had had more time to do so. We thank them too for the three wonderful door prizes.

Foremost, we thank all the dear friends, relatives, classmates, workmates, mentors, new acquaintances and even former teachers who came out to share the special time with us.
