Family Counseling Center commemorating 45 years of service in Southern Illinois

June 2019 marks 45 years of Family Counseling Center Inc. providing services in Southern Illinois.  

From its beginnings serving in Hardin, Johnson and Pope counties in 1974, to providing services throughout the southern seven counties today, Family Counseling Center Inc. has continued its mission to help others to reach their full potential.

“The current footprint of our agency covers an area the size of Rhode Island,” Family Counseling Center Inc. chief information officer Rollie Hawk said in a news release.

“We have sixteen sites, with six in Johnson County, five in Hardin County, three in Pope County, one in Alexander County and one in Pulaski County. We also provide services in Massac and Union counties.  

“We serve clients from three divisions providing twenty programs to over 2,000 clients.”

During June, the agency is highlighting its work over the years with daily posts to Facebook that share events over the course of its 45-year history.  

The celebration is scheduled to culminate with a luncheon which is planned at 1:30 p.m. on June 24 at Autumn Ridge Supportive Living Facility in Vienna. An important announcement will be made at that time, Hawk said.

“We’d really like to take this opportunity to celebrate the impact of our agency over the last forty-five years,” Hawk said.  

“In terms of clients served, jobs created, economic benefit and so on.  Part of the story of human services is that our work isn’t just about providing specific services to particular clients; our work is to help all individuals to reach their full potential and in the process elevating entire communities.  

“We all have a role to play in building healthier, safer communities with more opportunities for all of us.”
