Primary election goes on as scheduled
Voters went to the polls on Tuesday in Union County. Primary election day was held in the State of Illinois in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
Union County Clerk Lance Meisenheimer said that election day went smoothly. He noted that "all necessary precautions were taken to ensure everyone's health and safety."
Each voting station was equipped with hand sanitizer. All voting equipment was disinfected after each use.
Here’s a look at unofficial election results:
A total of 3,346 votes were cast, with 1,920 Republican ballots and 1,426 Democrat ballots.
