'Rock & Relax' event planned at The Old Feed Store
Recover from eclipse-mania with a celebration of Southern Illinois talent and tastes. Enjoy the bluesy Ivas John Band and the friendly atmosphere of The Old Feed Store, fill a plate, and sample local libations prepared Sunday, Aug. 27.
Food Works invites supporters of Southern Illinois farm, music, and culinary talent to Rock & Relax, a post-eclipse event Sunday, Aug. 27, at 6 p.m. at the Old Feed Store in Cobden. This is the third year for the fundraiser known in non-eclipse years as “Rock the Plate.” This year, the event is shaping up a little differently than in the past.
“This year, we’re focusing on local soda, beers, wines and ciders and we’re having a casual dinner,” Food Works executive director Kathleen Logan Smith said. “Rather than preparing the menu, the chefs, who have worked so hard for the Rock the Plate in its first two years, are going to enjoy the food, beverages and music along with our guests, so we renamed it Rock & Relax.”
People love this event because it showcases Southern Illinois food and music talent, and it starts early enough to get home in time to make it to work or school on Monday, Smith said.
Tickets are available at http://randrsoil.brownpapertickets.com/ and include food prepared by The Old Feed Store featuring locally grown ingredients. Tickets cost $25 for non-members or $20 for members of Food Works. A cash bar will be available. Scratch Brewery's summer favorite Basil India Pale Ale will be on tap along with an assortment of beverages from area breweries and vineyards.
