Shawnee Community College registration for fall continues

Registration for fall semester classes continues at Shawnee Community College. Fall classes are scheduled to begin Aug. 16.

The schedule of classes is available at the main campus near Ullin and at each of the college’s extension centers in Anna, Cairo and Metropolis.

The college offers 54 degrees and programs, including transfer degrees with articulation agreements established with local four-year universities.

The schedule is also available online at www.shawneecc.edu, click “current students,” then “course enrollment” and then “course schedules” for the schedule of fall classes.  

To register, students must complete four steps.

First, a student information form is to be completed. 

Second, placement testing is to be completed. Placement testing is required for all prospective students prior to the time they register for classes.

Placement testing can be completed at the college’s main campus near Ullin from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Testing is available at any of the extension centers by appointment. 

The next step is to request that a copy of high school completion be sent directly to the college’s admissions office. Hand-carried copies are not considered official. 

The last step is to schedule an appointment to meet with an advisor to schedule classes. 

The first day to charge financial aid in the college bookstore for fall courses is Aug. 10; the last day is Sept. 22.

Cairo Extension Center Advisement Hours

Shawnee Community College’s Cairo extension center plans to offer advisement hours until the first day of classes on Aug. 16. 

Students can speak with an advisor on-site on Monday through Friday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

An advisor will not be present on Aug. 4 or Aug. 11.

The college’s Cairo extension center is now at Cairo High School, which is located at 4201 Sycamore St. in Cairo.

The extension center is scheduled to be open for classes starting with the upcoming fall semester.
