Shawnee School District Board recognizes students of quarter

The Shawnee School District No. 84 Board of Education recognized students of the quarter at its regular monthly meeting for June.

The meeting was June 21 at Shawnee Junior-Senior High School in Wolf Lake.

Students who were honored for the fourth quarter included:

Kelci Baber, 3rd grade; Rayah Huffman, 2nd grade; Kirsten Pitts, 8th grade; Trenton Flannell, 7th grade; Autumn McMahan, high school freshman; Chapman Hill, high school sophomore.

In other action at the meeting, the board approved the following items for 2016-2017:

A prevailing wage resolution. A contract with Union County Counseling Service. Fees and admissions.

A dairy contract with Prairie Farms. A propane contract with Select Propane. 

Student accident insurance offered through Market Insurance Company. District insurance through Ramza and worker’s compensation through Employers Group.

Building use requests and fee waivers were approved for a class of 1961 reunion on Sept. 17 and a class of 1966 reunion on Oct. 8.

The board accepted the resignation of Chad Pitts as high school head baseball coach effective June 6.
