Union County CEO program to host Hometown Hoops tournament, alumni games

The first Union County 3v3 tournament and alumni games are scheduled Sunday, Feb. 10, at Anna Junior High School in Anna.

The event is being hosted by the Union County CEO program.

The 3v3 tournament is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.

Alumni game action tips off at 5 p.m. Dongola High School alumni will play alumni from Shawnee High School in Wolf Lake.

At approximately 7 p.m., Cobden High School alumni will play Anna-Jonesboro Community High School alumni.

The Little Indians will provide entertainment between the alumni games.

Spectator entry fee is $5 for adults and reduced or free for children.

The 3v3 basketball tournament is open to anyone ages high school and older, and players need not be alumni of local schools.

Registration to play in the 3v3 tournament is open until Feb. 8. The cost is $25 per team member, up to four players. Participants receive a Hometown Hoops t-shirt.

The winning team can choose between a group helicopter ride donated by Stevens Aircraft Solutions or a $75 Visa gift card for each player.

To participate in the alumni game, a player must be a member of any graduating class from any of the four Union County high schools: A-JCHS, Cobden, Dongola and Shawnee.

Registration is available online through the Union County CEO Facebook page, through Instagram @hometownhoops2019, or by contacting Amanda Smith (asmith@cusd17.com) or Kathy Bryan at Kiki’s Coffeehouse in Anna.

A limited number of t-shirts featuring the mascots from each school in the county are available and will be sold at the door. The shirts can be purchased at Kiki’s Coffeehouse or through any Union County CEO member.

The Feb. 10 event is the CEO program’s class business, a part of that class which has taught students communication skills, detail orientation and leadership skills.
