Union County marching band performs in Florida
The Union County Marching Band was scheduled to perform this week as part of the Superstar Parade at Universal Studios theme park in Orlando, Fla.
The Superstar Parade is a daily event at Universal Studios.
As part of their STARS performance program, Universal Studios invites marching bands from around the country to perform.
The Union County Marching Band featured high school musicians from throughoout the county, including students from Anna-Jonesboro Community High School, Cobden High School, Dongola High School and Shawnee High School at Wolf Lake.
Seventy-eight students were scheduled to march in the parade on Tuesday, March 27. The song they chose to perform was “Treasure” by Bruno Mars.
In addition to the Union County Marching Band, the parade featured street performers and parade floats based on characters from various Universal Studio franchises like SpongeBob SquarePants and Despicable Me.
Following the parade, members of the band attended special musician workshops led by industry professionals from the Universal Studios sound design department.
The Union County Marching Band has performed in parades at Walt Disney World four times since 2005. Tuesday was their first trip to Universal Studios.
