No Sunday alcohol sales in Jonesboro

A ban on the sale of alcohol on Sunday in the City of Jonesboro will continue.

The issue was on the agenda at Monday night's regular meeting of the Jonesboro City Council.

Representatives of two of the four businesses in Jonesboro which sell alcohol attended the meetings.

The business representatives asked the city council to consider lifting a ban on the sale of alcohol on Sundays which has existed for many years in Jonesboro.

After discussing the issue, the council voted 4-1 to continue to prohibit the sale of alcohol on Sundays.

The Anna City Council recently voted to end a longstanding ban on the sale of alcohol on Sundays.
