Orville Dale Hunt

Orville Dale Hunt, 93, of Bunker Hill, died at 6:50 a.m. on Feb. 4, 2016, at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton. During the 1950s he was pastor of Big Creek Baptist Church near Anna.

He was born on March 30, 1922, in Girard, the son of Verner and Lola Molen Hunt.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Green Hunt; his parents; a brother, Glenn; and a sister, Gladys.

He is survived by two children, Bob Hunt of Paducah and Luella (Dale) Rust of Bethalto; two grandchildren, Andrea Hunt of Louisville, Kentucky, and Greg (Heather) Schmidt of Bethalto; and two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Geoffrey Schmidt of Bethalto.

He graduated from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Berkley, California, and pastored during the 1950s and early 1960s. He worked in auto body repair for many years and owned Hunt's Body Shop in Bunker Hill in the late 1960s and 1970s.

Services were held Feb. 7, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill. Burial was in the Bunker Hill Cemetery.
