Gymnasium project underway
A major gymnasium renovation project is underway at Cobden High School. The work in the school's "old" gym includes structural flooring upgrades, painting of walls, new gym flooring and graphics, and moisture barrier protection. The gym floor dates to 1950s. The legendary "Amazing Appleknockers" Cobden High School boys' basketball team played on the floor.
The work is scheduled to be completed before the school year starts in the fall. Galloway Construction out of Wisconsin is the project's contractor. Baysinger Architects in Marion is the district's architectural firm. The project is slated to cost $250,000, which will come from the Cobden School District's health life safety fund.
