A hummingbird (in the lower right hand corner) didn't seem to mind the downpour: the hummer was stopping at a feeder at the white barn at the Trail of Tears State Forest last Saturday afternoon.White water at the state forest, sort of. Muddy brown creek water was "raging" at the entrance to the picnic area at the Trail of Tears State Forest early last Saturday afternoon. The best place to be last weekend? An ark at a playground at Anna Heights Baptist Church in Anna was still high and dry last Saturday. The picture was taken around midday.

Please read this...Last weekend – it was deja vu all over again

It's deja vu, all over again. In more ways than one.

Deja Vu Numero Uno: we're using deja vu for the second week in a row. Call it Deja Vu, Number Two, just for you.

Deja Vu Numero Two-o: ( know. Two-o really isn't a word. Oh, well.) Didn't we just do the whole too much water everywhere thing? Seems like it might have been back in December...or...maybe January.

Last weekend, we went through yet another round of the too much water thing. Actually, it started in the wee, wet hours of Saturday morning, and continued throughout much of the day on Saturday, into the night, continued some more on Sunday, and then some more on Monday, and might have kept going on Tuesday. This was written Monday afternoon, and your writer's skill sets do not include seeing into the future.

Given that a deadline was fast approaching when this was being compiled, I decided to keep the number of actual words to a minimum. Instead, you get some really nifty pictures of how yours truly spent part of his day on Saturday.

I'm here to tell you – it was wet. Wet. Wet. Wet. Pretty much everywhere.

I suppose the good thing is that it was way too warm to snow. I know. Snow isn't likely to fall in August in Southern Illinois.

Then again, we're generally not supposed to get more than 7 inches of rain over a couple of days in August. I don't think we're "supposed" to get 7 inches of rain for the whole month of August. Actually, wasn't it "supposed" to stop raining in July?

Anyway, if it had been cold enough to snow during the past few days, I thing we could have ended up with something like 70 inches of the white stuff on the ground. Now that would be something worth writing about.

Enough for now. See you at the fair. It'll be like deja vu...for me...and for you...
