Bishop Roger D. Moore

Bishop Roger D. Moore, 44, of Carterville, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, surrounded by his family, at the St. Louis Rehab Institute in St. Louis.

Bishop Moore was the pastor at the Carbondale Church of God for seven years.

He was born on April 30, 1972, the son of Carl and Jean Moore, in Cape Girardeau.

Bishop Moore married Tashya Pettit on Sept. 21, 1996, in Sandusky, at the Sandusky Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include his wife, Tashya Moore of Carterville; two sons, Noah Moore and Jacob Moore of Carterville; his parents, Carl and Jean Moore of Jonesboro; a brother and sister-in-law, Brien and Michelle Moore of Cobden; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Larry and Sue Pettit of Tamms; a sister-in-law, Tonya Laurentius of Scott City, Mo.; five nieces, Ashley Coe, Alesha Foster, Jessica, Jamie and Elizabeth Potter; and three nephews, Jamie, Koty and Trace Hanshew.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert Mayberry, Mary Keith and  Ray and Bessie Moore.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 2, at the Park Avenue Church of God at 2019 N. Park Ave. in Herrin, with Administrative Bishop Rick Whitter, Bishop Daniel Maples and the Rev. Clark Short officiating. Interment will be in Willow Rest Cemetery in Carterville.
