Minnie Jeremiah Allison

Minnie Jeremiah Allison, 94, of Blairsville, Ga., died at her home on Thursday, May 28, 2017.

Mrs. Allison was born on Feb. 8, 1923, in Sparta, the daughter of William and Rosa Jeremiah.

She was of the Protestant faith. She was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She lived most of her adult life in Anna, where she and her husband owned a Farm Fresh dairy store until they moved to East Alton, to run another Farm Fresh dairy store. She and her husband moved to Blairsville in 2000.

Mrs. Allison loved cooking for family and friends and expounding on the exploits of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was known for her signature coffee cakes that she made for years up to and including three weeks before her death.

One of her greatest joys was to be part of the activities, parties and fellowship with her neighbors in Nottley Dam Estates. Miss Minnie was preceded in death by her husband of 69-plus years, Dale A. Allison, and her seven brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Allison is survived by her children, Dale A. (Carol) Allison Jr. of Blairsville and John (Candi) Allison of St. Simons; five grandchildren, Christa (Buzz) Brockway of Lawrenceville, former State Rep. Stephen (Regina) Allison of Blairsville, Jodi (Timothy) Ryan of Tampa, Fla., Jake (Maymianne) Allison of Acworth and Jeni (Mike) Leivas of Phoenix City, Ala.; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service for Mrs. Allison will be held Friday, June 2, at 10 a.m. at the Union County Community Center.
