Irene Franklin
Irene Franklin, 85, of Olive Branch, died at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born on Jan. 20, 1932, in Olive Branch, the daughter of Barney S. and Hannah Elizabeth Hill Henderson.
She married Earl Franklin on May 2, 1953. He preceded her in death on July 15, 1999.
She retired as a cook after many years of working for St. Mary’s Hospital in Cairo, Glen’s Restaurant and Emerson School. She was a member of the Trinity Assembly of God Church in Olive Branch.
She is survived by her children, Linda Frank, Brenda Kay Pearl, Edward Eugene Pearl, Deborah Sue Upshaw, Don Earl Franklin, Daniel Lynn Franklin and Kathy Irene Franklin; 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernice McRaven; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Colten Pearl; two brothers, Don Henderson, Ted Henderson; and three sisters, Ludene Henderson, Daisy Kelly and Angeline Boes.
Funeral services for Irene Franklin were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at Trinity Assembly of God Church in Olive Branch with the Rev. Stephen Clardy and the Rev. Bill Freeman officiating. Interment was in Olive Branch Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
