Everett ‘Buck’ Brown

Everett “Buck” Brown, 87, of Dongola, died at 5:22 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, at his home, thanks to the loving care provided by Sheila Dillow.

He was born on Jan. 6, 1931, in Mill Creek, the son of Elda Guy “Mose” and Gertie Hastings Brown.

He married Velda Allen on June 25, 1988, in Cape Girardeau.

He is survived by his children, Debbie (Mike) Ayers of Jonesboro, Wayne Brown of Champaign, Sheila (Gary) Dillow of Lick Creek, Sharon (Lee) Gibson of Jonesboro and Dale Allen of Clinton; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Weldon (Judy) Brown of Sullivan; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, “Ras” and “Jim” Brown; and a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Allen.

He worked at Lewis Brothers Bakery for many years. He enjoyed meeting his friends in the morning at McDonald’s for coffee. He had a close church family at Wetaug Church of Christ.

The entire family cannot put into words how thankful they are for having Sheila Dillow at his side. The family said her love for Buck was inspiring and because of her, he was able to live his final days at home where he was most comfortable.

Funeral services for Mr. Brown were at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with Brent Miller officiating. Interment was in the St. John’s Cemetery near Dongola.

Memorials can be given to the Wetaug Church of Christ.
