Don Severs

Don Severs, 92, of Anna, died at 5:10 p.m. on Feb. 25, 2018, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna.

He was born on March 6, 1925, in Ullin, the son of Dow and Martha Gulley Severs.

He married Anita Ridenhour on Dec. 31, 1948. She preceded him in death on Feb. 5, 1989. In June 1989, he married Wanda Kessler. Wanda preceded him in death in July 2015.

He retired from the Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center in Anna after many years of service. He was a member of Anna Heights Baptist Church and Anna Lodge No. 520 AF & AM. He loved to cook and was an avid gardener. He was a very generous and loving man to all of his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Donna (Pat) Robert of Cape Girardeau; a stepdaughter, Kim (Marty) Troub of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren Scott (Dawn) Robert of Cape Girardeau and Becky (John) Davis of St. Louis; great-grandchildren Collin Davis and Claire Davis; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives and brothers, Carl Severs, Guy Severs, Virgil Severs, Clifford Severs and Perry Severs.

Masonic services were accorded at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro.

Funeral services for Mr. Severs were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro, with Darrell Williams officiating. Interment followed in the American Legion Cemetery, with military honors accorded by Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 and the Illinois honor guard.

Memorials can be made to the Illinois Veterans Home activity fund in Anna or to Anna Heights Baptist Church.
