Historical artifacts topic of program

Dr. Susan A. Whitemountain plans to present a program titled “How is the founding history of Union County told through historical artifacts?” on Thursday evening, Sept. 13, in Anna.

The program is set for 6 p.m. at The Gathering Place, which is located at 313 S. Main St. Admission is free.

The event will be the sixth program in an ongoing series of presentations about Union County’s bicentennial, which is being observed in 2018.

The presentation will include an overview of the 1818 map showing roads, taverns, land occupants up to and including November and December 1818, what the county was like when Illinois was admitted into the union.

The session will bring to a close the 1818 history of Union County as documented in a number of historical artifacts, such as land records, maps, books and court records.

Those who are planning to attend are asked to RSVP by calling 833-6525 or by emailing gathermyhistory@gmail.com
