Margie Belle Bittle, 97, of Jonesboro, died with her family by her side on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024. 

Glenn L. Winstead, 100, of Carbondale, and formerly of Cobden, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024, at Manor Court in Carbondale. 

Deon Warden, 54, of Jonesboro, died Sunday, Jan. 21, at his home.

Anice Edward “A.E.” Corzine, 92, of Perks, died at 6:10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 25, 2023, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, with his family by his side.

Karen Kay McClarney-Loftin, 79, of Cape Girardeau, went to be with the Lord at 1:50 p.m. Sunday Dec. 31, 2023, at her residence, surrounded by those who loved her. 

Jerry Wayne Meyer, 76, of Anna, and formerly of the Boaz community in Massac County, died at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, at the Mulberry Manor Care Center in Anna.

James Oval Spencer, 92, of Villa Ridge, died at 3:44 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion.

The minimum wage in Illinois increased on Jan. 1, 2024.

Workers will see an increase of $1 per hour from $13 to $14, the Illinois Department of Labor reported.
