Allen F. ‘Pete’ Vinson

Allen F. “Pete” Vinson, 73, of rural Vienna, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2022, at his home.

He was born on Feb. 13, 1949, at the home of his Uncle Bill and Aunt Pearl Brown, north of Vienna.  He was the son of Frank and Nellie (Brown) Vinson.

On July 4, 2013, Pete was united in marriage to Cindy Brumley in Anna. She survives.

He is also survived by his daughter, Shawn R. (Bryan) Johns of Tunnel Hill; step children Scott Rheaume of Cypress and Rachel (Jeff) Cooper of Columbus, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Tyler Sullivan, Hannah (Lucas) Rose, Allison (Mark) O’Brien, Ryan (MiKensey) Johns, Cody Johns, Noah Donaldson, Claire Cooper and Lily Cooper; five great-grandchildren, Lenora Rose, Townes Rose, Trent O’Brien, Hadleigh Johns and Kyler Johns; two sisters, Donna (Gene) Stone of Marion and Judy (Ed) Lee of Lake Wales, Fla.; his mother-in-law, Catherine Brumley of Vienna; a sister-in-law, Donna (Chuck) Girtman of Metropolis; two brothers-in-law, Roger Brumley of Vienna and Bob (Karen) Brumley of Joliet; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Ethan Rheaume.

He was a 1967 graduate of Vienna High School.  He attended Shawnee Community College and earned a bachelor’s degree in university studies from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He also attended the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.

He was employed for more than 30 years by U.S. Enrichment Corporation (USEC) at the Paducah, Ky., facility. During his tenure, he held a variety of positions of responsibility and also served as a trainer.

He was a faithful Christian and pastored churches throughout the area from 1974 until his passing.

He loved spending time outdoors and living on his family farm. He was a faithful donor to local American Red Cross blood drives for many years.

A funeral service honoring the life of Pete Vinson was conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.  Pastor Alan Milligan officiated.

Burial was in the Graves Cemetery north of Vienna.
