Allen Ray Fletcher

Allen Ray Fletcher, 78, of Cairo, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020, at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah.

He was born on April 25, 1942, in Cairo, the son of Charles and Susie Bagby Fletcher.  

He married Gracie Wheat, and to this union two sons were born. She preceded him in death in 1980.  

He married Susan Wildt in 1982 and she survives in Cairo.  

Mr. Fletcher worked for Hoover in Cadiz, Ky., for many years. He later worked as a laborer, doing construction work.  

He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Navy. He was previously a member of Southside Baptist Church in Wickliffe, Ky., and later was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Olmsted. 

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Susan Fletcher of Cairo; his two sons, Ray (Becky) Fletcher of Bumpus Mill, Tenn., and Billy (Penny) Fletcher of Cadiz, Ky.; his two grandchildren, Justin Fletcher of Bumpus Mill and Hannah Fletcher of Cadiz; his sister, Sharon Snelson of Cairo; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Gracie Fletcher; and one brother, Bruce Edward Taylor.

A private visitation and funeral service will be held at Crain Funeral Home in Cairo. Interment will follow in Mound City National Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Villa Ridge honors team and the U.S. Navy.
