Allie Jane Miller Davis

Allie Jane Miller Davis, 92, of Cobden, died on Oct. 25, 2022, in her home with her family surrounding her. 

She was born on Oct. 25, 1930, in Cobden, the daughter of Paul and Clara Bell Miller. 

Her great-grandparents were among the earliest settlers of Cobden. She graduated from Cobden High School and then attended the University of Illinois , where she studied voice. Following her college graduation, she taught music in the Cobden School District. 

She married Richard L. Davis of El Paso, Texas, on Sept. 13, 1953, in Cobden before moving to and living in El Paso, Texas, for the next 33 years. There she served as president of the East El Paso Republican Women’s Club State Convention held in El Paso, as executive secretary in charge of the headquarters of the Republican Party of El Paso and was designated one of the 10 Outstanding Republican Women in the State of Texas. 

She was appointed to the appraisal review board by two El Paso mayors and appointed judge in charge of counting the election ballots in El Paso County. Upon her mother’s death in 1986, she moved back to Cobden to the house in which she was born. 

She is survived by her three children, Paula S. Davis, Nancy L. Cook and Richard L. Davis Jr.;  and three grandchildren, Joshua L. Davis, Tara Davis and Caitlyn Q. Cook. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Paul Eugene Miller; and her husband, Richard L. Davis.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Cobden and the Cobden Women’s Club. 

Graveside memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at the family plot in the Cobden Cemetery. 

Friends may visit from 11 a.m. and until 12:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden.

Memorials can be made to the Cobden School Band. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
