Alma Gilliam
Alma Gilliam, 93, of Caldwell, Texas, and formerly of Anna, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at St. Joseph Hospital in Caldwell, Texas.
She was born on May 23, 1924, in Illinois, the daughter of William Samuel and Gladys Phelps Smith.
She is survived by her daughters, Janice (James) Franks of Caldwell, Texas, and Joyce Barrick Ragsdell of Overland, Mo.; a son, Kenneth Gilliam of Anna; seven grandchildren, Randy Smith, Rob Smith, Angela Umfleet, Harold Ray Barrick, Pamela Hudder, James Marvel and Jimmy Marvel; 13 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; brothers Cliff (Ofie) Smith of Buchanan, Mich., Bill (Wilma) Smith of Cobden and John Smith of Jonesboro, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, James Everett Marvel; two sons, James Marvel and Dennis Gilliam; brothers Herb Smith, Louie Smith, Tony Smith, Floyd Smith; and sisters, Mae Patten, Lucille Miller, Elsie Moore and Velma Lava Smith.
She worked at the Florsheim Shoe Factory and later worked at Spanish Oaks.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gilliam were at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with the Rev. Paul Tirey officiating. Interment was in Casper Cemetery near Anna.
