Alta Mae (Sowers) Taylor

Alta Mae (Sowers) Taylor, formerly of Mounds, died Jan. 5, 2021, at Brandon Regional Medical Center, Brandon, Fla.

She was born May 27, 1929, in Ullin, to Arvle and Ina Mae (Crippen) Sowers. On Sept. 25, 1949, she married Donald Jean Taylor, of Mounds, who preceded her in death. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mounds.

She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Bernice Rudolph of Mounds, Jean Price of Mounds; Sarah Gorden, of Lake Station, Ind.; and Carol Stringer, of Pulaski.

She is survived by a brother, Chuck Sowers of Mounds; sister-in-law, Jeannie (Neil) Taylor of Mounds; sons, Jay Curtis (Kathy) Taylor of Brandon, Fla.; and Joe Donald (Pandora) Taylor of Makanda; grandsons, Joe Curtis (Kristen) Taylor of Melbourne, Fla.; Jason Curtis (Windy) Taylor of Tallahassee, Fla.; Bryan Lee (Allison) Taylor, Brandon of Fla.; and Nicholas Todd (Jamie) Taylor of Marion. Also many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. 

A celebration of life will be held at a later date when it is safe to gather.

Private burial was in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Crain Funeral Home of Cairo is in charge of arrangements.
