Amon Lee Jackson Jr.

Amon Lee Jackson Jr., 91, of Anna, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna.

He was born on Sept. 23, 1926, in Galatia, the son of Amon Lee Sr. and Mary B. Smith Jackson.

He married Bonnie Rendleman on March 5, 1949, in Osceola, Ark. She preceded him in death on Aug. 11, 1987. He later married Eva Parrott. She also preceded him in death.

He is survived by his children, Bonnie Lee (Steve) Sullivan of Anna, Mike (Lara) Jackson of Bowling Green, Ky., and Janet Boyd of Anna; four grandchildren, Allison (Lee) Hatcher, Sarah (Riley) Welborn, Nathan Jackson and Jackson Boyd; six great-grandchildren, Garrett, Kate and Benjamin Hatcher, Lucy Jackson, Liam and Evelyn Welborn; a sister, Sarilda Blake of Chesterfield, Mo.; a brother, Bill Jackson; other relatives and many friends.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Anna for many years. He was retired from Bunny Bread after 27 years as sales manager. After retirement, he owned and operated heavy equipment.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Anna District No. 37 School Board.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, at the United Methodist Church in Anna, with the Rev. Bill Minor officiating. Interment was in the Anna City Cemetery.

Graveside military rites were conducted by Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Navy funeral honor team.

Memorials can be made to the Illinois Veterans Home activity fund or to the Southern Illinois Honor Flight.
