Anna Lee “Griffith” Heisner
Anna Lee “Griffith” Heisner, 91, of Metropolis, formerly of Grand Chain, passed away at 6:18 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, 2023 at the Metropolis Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Funeral services honoring the life of Mrs. Anna Lee “Griffith” Heisner were held on Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Congregational Church in Grand Chain.
Her nephew, Rev. Stephen Heisner, and Rev. Gerell Cain officiated. Music was provided by Rev. Stephen Heisner.
Interment followed at the Masonic Cemetery in Grand Chain.
Pallbearers were Joshua Heisner, Chad Gilham, David Hubbard, Jeff Heisner, Jacob Heisner and Nathan Heisner.
Mrs. Heisner was born Dec. 9,1931 in Charleston, Mo.
Anna Lee and Robert Heisner were united in marriage on Nov. 26, 1949. They shared 72 years together until Robert’s passing in 2022.
Mrs. Heisner was retired from Shawnee Development. She had also worked as the treasurer for the Century school district. She was a member of the Grand Chain Congregational Church, where she served many years as the church treasurer and Sunday school teacher and deaconess.
Anna Lee was an avid reader and helped fund the Grand Chain Library and was treasurer for the Grand Chain Cemetery Association.
She is survived by her three sons, Dr. Monty Heisner and wife Karen L. of Reidland, Ky., Dr. Terry Heisner and wife Karen J. of Metropolis, Robert “Robbie Dale” Heisner, of Benton, Ky.; three grandchildren, Joshua Heisner and wife Andrea, Heather Heisner and husband James Funderburk, Brittney Heisner and fiancé Chad Gilham; two step-grandchildren, Michele Clark and husband Eric, Ricky DuPree and wife Brittney; two great-grandchildren, Owen and Kellen Heisner; eight step-great-grandchildren, Nathan and Gavin Clark, Carly, Beck and Ava Funderburk, and Ben, Jamie and Matthew DuPree; one sister, Ruth Lindemann and husband Hank; many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Heisner was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E Heisner (2022); her parents, Edgar and Thelma Spinks Griffith; brothers, Jerry and Glenn Griffith and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Heisner.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Grand Chain Library or the Grand Chain Cemetery Association.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak.
