Arlynn del Greco

Arlynn del Greco, 85, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2018, at her home in Fairhope, Ala.

She was born on June 19, 1933, in Anna, the daughter of Edmund and Alice McCree.

She graduated from Anna-Jonesboro Community High School in 1951. She received her bachelor of arts degree in education from Carthage College in Illinois in 1957.

She married Charlie Rife while in college, later joining him for a military posting in Hawaii.

After their military years, she lived with her husband, now a doctor, in Rochester, Minn.

She was the mother of two children, Sarah and Christopher.

She worked as an elementary school teacher, displaying a tenderness for helping children.

In the 1980s, she received a nursing degree and a master of arts degree from Hood College in Frederick, Md., and worked as a PRN Nurse and Kelly girl, the predecessor to hospice.

She remarried in January of 1986 to Dr. Francesco del Greco in Leesburg, Va., and moved to Chicago. They both retired to Fairhope in 1997.

She lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures: creating her own fashions, caring for her gardens, painting and spending time with her friends and family. She had an ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.

She is survived by her sisters, Linda Hallberg and Martha Lynch; her daughter, Sarah Rife Kaye; grandchildren Banks and Willa Kaye; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family, friends and others whose lives she touched are invited to attend her memorial service at St. Paul’s Episcopal Chapel in Magnolia Springs, Ala., on March 16. Those who attend the service will reminisce, support each other and celebrate her life.
