Jack Eddleman, 77, of Dongola, died at on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born April 15, 1936 in Dongola, son of Harry and Nellie Staten Eddleman. Jack married Jacquie Kimber on June 15, 1957, she preceded him in death on Aug. 2, 2013.
Jack was member of First Lutheran Church in Dongola. He was an Army veteran. Jack earned his Bachlor’s degree in agriculture and Master’s in Agriculture Economics from SIU. From 1962-1997 he worked at the USDA Anna office. He was executive director at the time of his retirement. In 2000 he was elected to a 6 year term on the Union County Board of Commissioners. He served on the Southern Five Regional Planning Committee, Shawnee Development Council, Union County Economic Development Board and a council member for the St. John’s Lutheran Church. Jack also served as a volunteer for animal welfare activities. He was proud to have continued his family farm following his father’s death in 1960. He loved traveling with his wife, Jacquie. They enjoyed many adventures and endeavors together. They both loved life to fullest and helping others.
Survivors include his sister, Carolyn (Joe) Frick of Jonesboro; brother-in-law, Robert Kimber of Dongola; nephew, Brian Joe Frick; Suzzie (Mike) Thieke, Ted (Nancy) Beanland, whom he loved as his own; other relatives and many friends.
Visitation was from 4PM to 7PM, Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola and after 2PM Sunday at First Lutheran Church in Dongola.
Funeral services were held at 3PM Sunday, March 2, 2014 at First Lutheran Church in Dongola with Pastor Tim Heinecke officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at St. John’s Cemetery.
