Barbara B. Lair
We have lost the matriarch of our family, Barbara B. Lair, 92, of Jonesboro, died Friday, June 12, 2020, at her daughter’s home in Dongola.
She was born on April 9, 1928, in Cobden, the daughter of Fred L. and Agnes E. DuRall Brown. She was married to Ray Lair.
She is survived by her daughter, Kelly (Larry) Gaddis of Dongola; her grandchildren, Lauri Ann Spurlock, Timothy (Brittany) Spurlock, Brandy (Chris) Girtman, Jenny Spurlock and Heather Menz; her great-grandchildren, Nick, Quincey and Cooper Spurlock, Anthony, Colyn, Kyra and Riley Girtman, Jada Spurlock, Natalee Gaddis and Carter Beanland; a daughter-in-law, Margaret (Larry) Dale of Jonesboro; a son-in-law, Raymond Menz of Anna; sisters-in-law, Jean Brown and Shelby Brown; niece and nephew Deborah Placek and Kenny Brown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Lair; five children, Freddie Ray Spurlock Jr., Larry Joe Spurlock, Gail Lee Spurlock, Steven Spurlock and Cindy Sue Menz; brothers Revis and Gail Brown; two infant siblings; and a nephew, Richard Brown.
She was a member of Lockard Chapel Baptist Church. She worked for the Florsheim Shoe Company for 40 years. She loved her family and friends and was always lending a helping hand.
Private graveside services for Barbara Lair will be held at the Jonesboro Cemetery.
