Barbara A. File

Barbara A. File, 77, of Anna, died Monday, March 22, 2021, at 7:29 p.m. at Union County Hospital in Anna.

She was born on Oct. 11, 1943, in Jonesboro, the daughter of Virgil and Genevieve Dillow Wiggs. 

She married John Paul Allen on June 1961. She married Gerald File in July 1970; he preceded her in death in September 1996.

Barbara and her husband Gerald owned and operated File Supply Company. Mrs. File retired as a public administrator for the Illinois Department of Corrections. 

She was an original board member of the Union County Women in Business and Southern Illinois Incorporated. 

She was affiliated with the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce Board, the Illinois Job Training Partnership Commission, the Illinois Governors Small Business Advisory Commission and the Illinois Correctional Association. 

She was a past Worthy Matron for the Order of Eastern Star in Jonesboro and Anna. She was a member of Mt. Moriah and Salem Lutheran Church in Anna and Jonesboro and attended New Beginnings Community Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Allen; a son, David (Gina) Allen; grandchildren Rachel and Rowan; a sister, Sharon Toler; a sister, Diana Craig; a brother, Gary Wiggs; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Genevieve; and her husband, Gerald File.

Funeral services were held at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro at 11 a.m. Friday, March 26, with Lonnie Lewis officiating. Burial was in the Anna City Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the Union County animal control program and can be sent to Crain Funeral Home, P.O. Box 257, Anna, Ill. 62906.

Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro was in charge of arrangements.
