Bernice Aline Dempsey

Bernice Aline Dempsey, 101, of Festus, Mo., and formerly of Anna, died Friday, Feb. 19, 2021, at the Crystal Oaks in Festus, Mo. 

She was born on Oct. 1, 1919, in Eldorado, the daughter of John Melvin and Orpha Karns Overton. 

She married Glen Dempsey on Dec. 21, 1939, in Eldorado. He preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 1984.

She is survived by her sons, Gary (Jean) Dempsey of Belleville and Gail (Leslie) Dempsey of Crystal City, Mo.; three grandchildren, Sean (Amy) Dempsey, Bradley (Holly) Dempsey and Krystal (Dennis) Gross; five great-grandchildren, Kayla Dempsey, Riley, Jackson and Trenton Gross,  and Vanessa Dempsey; other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen Dempsey; a twin sister, Agnes Brockett, as well as three other sisters. 

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Anna for many years. She loved to play golf and to attend many church activities. 

Funeral services will be at noon Thursday, today, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Nick DiMauro officiating. Interment will be in the Anna Cemetery. 

Friends can call after 11 a.m. and until the service hour at noon Thursday, today, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. 

Everyone attending will be required to wear face coverings and to observe social distancing requirements. Maximum occupancy of the building will be limited to 50 people at one time.
