Bill J. Ford
Bill J. Ford, 82, of Anna, died at 11:39 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13, 2017.
He was born in Vienna on Nov. 4, 1935, the son of Loran and Freda Lee Hester Ford.
He married Anna Ruth Rink on June 7, 1958, at St. Patrick’s Church in Cairo. They shared over 53 years of happiness together. She preceded him in death on Jan. 17, 2012.
Over the years, he worked for Prudential Life Insurance Company, the State Highway Department out of Cairo and also ran a daycare with his wife, Ruth. He also ran Teen Town for many years.
He served in the U.S. Army, where he obtained the rank of SP4. While serving, he received the Good Conduct Medal.
He was involved in his community, being a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and Kiwanis. He was also a Union County School Board Member and an Anna City Park Board Member.
He loved doing yard work and fishing, but most of all he enjoyed attending various school and sporting events in which his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were involved.
He is survived by his two sons, Mike (Rhonda) Ford of Buncombe and Jeff (Diane) Ford of Charleston, Mo.; one daughter, Amy (Rich) King of Buncombe; grandchildren Joey (Adria) Ford of Cobden, Ryan (Jen) Ford of Charleston, Mo., Jodi South (Evan) of Carbondale, Haley Ford (Bryant) of Charleston, Mo., Justin Ford of Buncombe, Cody King (Laurelin) of Anna, Zach (Whitney) Ford of Anna and Jacqueline Ford (Vicente) of Anna and Katy Jo (Noah) Prater of Anna; great-grandchildren Raleigh and Rider Ford, Jamie, Kaylee and Colton Ford, Mia Guzman, Kenslie Ford; and brothers Robbie (Marietta) Ford of Vienna and Ralph (Ella) Ford of Vienna.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Mark Ford; brothers Donald and Loren Ford; and sisters, Sue, Wilma and Gertrude.
Visitation was Wednesday evening, Nov. 15, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro with the Rosary said at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, today, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Anna, with Father Federico Higuera officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Villa Ridge.
