Bonnie L. Stokes

Bonnie L. Stokes, 95, of Lick Creek, went to be with the Lord and Savior on Monday, Oct. 24, 2022, at Parkway Manor in Marion. 

She was born on Nov. 18, 1926, in Lick Creek, the daughter of Lafayette Carroll and Ruth Stout Rich. 

She married Herman Lee Stokes on Oct. 22, 1943, in Jackson, Mo. He preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 2016. 

Mrs. Stokes is survived by her two daughters, Jeannie Parr and Carol Watkins, both of Lick Creek; a son, Matt (Donna) Stokes of Lick Creek; four grandchildren, Chandler (Sherri) Parr, Tim (Kim) Parr, Jennifer Stokes and Ashley (Jeremy) Cookson; nine great-grandchildren, Chandra Kaye (Hunter) Englehart, Zack and Jake Parr, Travis and Brady Woodworth, Clayton Smith, Bella Cook, Ryker and Cru Cookson; three great-great-grandchildren, Charlestyn Englehart, Mila Parr and Huntson Englehart; two nieces, Pam Jones of Mississippi and Paula Sullivan of Goreville; other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman Lee Stokes; a sister, Betty Jones; and two sons-in-law, Mike Watkins and P.L. Parr.

She was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church and enjoyed teaching Vacation Bible School to the children. 

She was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed every opportunity to attend sporting events for her grandchildren. 

She worked along side her husband, Herman on the dairy farm many years ago. She loved cooking for her family and always made sure there was something to eat. 

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with Mike Miller officiating. Interment was in McGinnis Cemetery.
