C. Eugene Phillips

C. Eugene Phillips, 85, of Olive Branch, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born on Sept. 27, 1931, in McClure, the son of James Everett and Ruth May Benefield Phillips.

He married Lora Jeanette Welch on June 15, 1950. She preceded him in death on July 11, 2010.

He was retired from Burkhart in Cairo. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church.

He is survived by his children, Mike (Donna) Phillips of Paducah, Ruth Ann (David) Polivick of Olive Branch, Harold Phillips of Mayfield, Ky., and Wayne (Sharron) Phillips of Olive Branch; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lora Jeanette Phillips; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Phillips; one sister, Jewell Tinsley; and three brothers, Stanley Phillips, Lewis Phillips, Charles “Bud” Phillips.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Satuday, Oct. 1, at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms with the Rev. Bobby Kirby officiating. Interment was in Lindsey Cemetery.
