Cathy Austin

Cathy Austin, 73, of Thebes, and formerly of St. Louis, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022, at Saint Francis Medical Center. 

She was born on Oct. 1, 1949, in St. Louis, the daughter of Manning Eugene and Evelyn Kathryn Murphy England.

She married Loyal “Kirk” Austin on Oct. 6, 1967, and together they shared 55 years of marriage. 

She went to cosmetology school and loved to fix hair. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her husband, Kirk; a daughter, Gina Bledsoe; a grandson, Corey (Alicia) Caldwell; a granddaughter, Courtney Bledsoe; a great-grandson on the way; a sister, Jill England; a brother, Jeff England; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, Ronnie England.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, with the Rev. Larry Potts officiating. Interment will follow the service at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes.   

Visitation will be Thursday, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
