Cathy Elkins Freeman

Cathy Elkins Freeman, 62, of Jonesboro, died Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau.

She was born on July 20, 1959, in Anna, the daughter of Robert and Geneva Tucker Elkins. 

She married Michael Freeman on Feb. 14, 1999, in Jonesboro. 

Mrs. Freeman is survived by her husband, Michael Freeman of Jonesboro; her mother, Geneva Elkins of Jonesboro; a sister, Sheryl Netherton of St. Joseph; an aunt, Eva Anderson of Normal; two stepchildren, Dustin and Miranda Freeman of Paducah; numerous cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Elkins. 

She attended the Apostolic Faith Tabernacle in Jonesboro for many years. She was retired from the Illinois Department of Human Services, where she worked for almost 30 years. 

She loved to spend time with her friends going shopping and out to eat. She was a caregiver at heart, seeing to the needs of her family and always being there to help anyone in their time of need. 

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 18, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Mark Goins officiating. Interment will be in Casper Cemetery near Anna. 

Friends can call after 11 a.m. and until the service hour at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. 

Memorials can be made to Apostolic Faith Tabernacle. Envelopes will be available at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home.
