Cecil O. Toler

Cecil O. Toler, 93, of Dongola, died at 11:55 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017, at Union County Hospital in Anna.

He was born on Oct. 23, 1923, in Union County, the son of Jesse and Lucinda Brasel Toler.

He married Marilyn Langholf on Sept. 25, 1948, in Ogle County.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marilyn Toler of Dongola; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and four sisters.

He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and attended Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church for many years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He started his working career at the age of 16 at a printing press in Mt. Morris. He later moved to Washington, D.C., and worked as a printer for the United States government. He was a member of the Cobden American Legion, the VFW in Oregon, Ill., and the Disabled American Veterans.

Funeral services for Mr. Toler were at noon Wednesday, Jan. 25, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Doug Bridgeman officiating. Interment was in Ebenezer Hall Cemetery in Lick Creek. Graveside military rites were conducted by Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard military honors team of Marion.
