Charlene Kozora

Charlene Kozora, 68, of Anna, died at 11:24 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born on March 8, 1948, in Chicago, the daughter of Frances and Grace Placier Kozora.

She worked as a secretary at SICCM for a few years and at Mt. Moriah Church for several years. She also worked as a police dispatcher in Chester. She was a talented seamstress, and enjoyed sewing banners and altar guilds for church. She was also a candy maker, puppeteer, sang in the church choir and was active volunteer for the Anna Arts Center and the Stage Co. in Carbondale. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church in Anna.

Survivors include her sons, Larry C. Wakefield of Anna, Dan (Bridgett) Wakefield of Champaign, and Andrew Wakefield of Elsberry, Mo.; grandchildren Seth Wakefield of Anna, Sherri Wakefield of Ellis Grove, Alec Wakefield of Anna, Emily Wakefield of Sesser, Natalie Wakefield of Champaign, and Ethan Wakefield of Champaign; a brother, Ross Kozora of Crown Point, Ind.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitiation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro.

Memorial services will follow the visitation at 5 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Dennis Scoville officiating.

Memorials can be made to Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church, the American Cancer Society or the Anna Arts Center.
