Charles Randall Baker
Charles Randall Baker, 79, of Cobden, died at 12:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, at his home.
He was born on May 2, 1938, in Fairplay Community, Ky., the son of Harvey Jessie and Eva Lee Spoon Baker.
He married Bessie Irene Sorrels on July 26, 1958, in Chicago. She preceded him in death on Jan. 19, 2010.
He is survived by his stepson, Ermal (Cami) Sorrels of Jonesboro; a son, Charles J. Baker of Cobden; a daughter, Jane N. L. Baker of Cobden; a granddaughter, Shonda Sorrels of Godfrey; a brother, HC Baker of South Elgin; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bessie Irene (Sorrels) Baker; four sisters, Evelyn Campbell, Flossie Nelson, Dorothy Morrison and Minnie Baker; and three brothers, Vicki Lynn Baker, Johnny Louis Baker and Stanford Jessie Baker.
He loved gardening and farming. He had a pet cat that he enjoyed spending time with.
Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, at the Alto Pass Cemetery, with Pastor Robert Gray officiating. Interment was in the Alto Pass Cemetery.
