Charley Daniel Wallace Sr., 93, of Cairo, died at 6:25 p.m. on Aug. 19, 2021, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born on Jan. 19, 1928, in Cairo, the son of Walter and Kate Wallace.

He married Melba Haynes. She preceded him in death.

He was a river boat captain. He was a member of the Cairo United Pentecostal Church.

He is survived by his son, Charley (Marilyn) Wallace; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Besides his wife, Melba, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Lavanda Aldridge and Charlotte Helton.

Cremation will be accorded. Inurnment will take place at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at a later date.

Crain Funeral Home of Cairo is in charge of arrangements.
