Charley Ray Smith

Charley Ray Smith, 81, of Balcom, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021, at the River to River Community Living Center. 

He was born on July 5, 1940, in Union County, the son of Merle and Velda William Smith. 

He married Linda Smith. She preceded him in death.   

He was a member of East Hartford Baptist Church of Hartford, Ky. He worked for many years as a diesel mechanic at Clark’s Diesel in Hartford, Ky., as well as farming. 

Mr. Smith is survived by his children, Carol (John) Messamore of Anna, Connig (Stephanie) Smith of Oxford, N.C., and Nathan (Dianna) Smith of Anna; stepchildren Greg (Stacy) Boyd of Beaver Dam, Ky., and Teresa Renfro (Marty Smith) of Hartford, Ky.; grandchildren Nikita and Cassia Smith, Kelly and Kaity Messamore, Kori Bennett, Kailei Hart, Gracey Boyd, Raquel White, Wayne (Kendra) Renfro, Amber Smith and Justin Smith; 10 great-grandchildren; stepmother Ida Mae Smith of Anna; sister June Qualls of Cape Girardeau; other relatives and many friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife, Linda Smith. 

Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, at Beech Grove Church in Wolf Lake, with the Rev. Billy Carter officiating.
