Clara Kesler

Clara Kesler, 91, of Dongola, died Saturday, June 22, 2019, at 7:25 p.m. at Reflections Memory Care Center in Carterville surrounded by her family.

She was born on May 17, 1928, in Pulaski County, the daughter of George and Sarah Iva Richardson Harmon.  

On Sept. 18, 1945, she married Ellis Kesler.

She worshipped at Wetaug Church of Christ. She worked alongside her husband on the family farm for seven decades, where she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved raising her flowers, especially roses, and took pride in her vegetable garden and canning.

She was loved by her husband of 73 years, Ellis; her son and daughter-in-law, Dudley and Kim Kesler; granddaughter Lindsey and husband Jeffrey Stout II, grandson Scott Kesler and great-grandson Jeffrey Stout III.  

In addition, she is survived by a sister, Betty Nichols, and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe, Louis and James “Jim” Harmon Sr.; and by three sisters, Dorothy Joyce, Ann Stowski and Doris Rose.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola, with Brent Miller officiating. Interment was in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
