Clarence L. Lang Sr.
Clarence L. Lang Sr., 81, of Dongola, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2021, at Shawnee Senior Living in Herrin.
He was born on Dec. 18, 1940, in De Soto, the son of Samuel and Clara Duty Lang.
He married Effie Pearl Poole on May 29, 1959, in Jonesboro. She preceded him in death on Sept. 25, 2012.
Mr. Lang is survived by his son, Clarence L. Lang Jr. of Anna; six grandchildren, Amanda McKay, Samantha Smith, Kasondra Freeman, Rebekah Benefield, Hunter Freeman and Chelsie Lang; seven great-grandchildren, Ruger, Remington and Rossi Freeman, Emilye and Effie Smith, Cadey Sims and Caison Allen; two great-great-grandsons, Greyson Alexander Baucom and Myles Baucom; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Effie Lang; a son, Terry Lang; a daughter, Marilyn Freeman; and several siblings.
Mr. Lang worked over 20 years for Transcraft before its closing. He owned and operated Lang Sonoco in Metropolis for many years and he also farmed.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Interment will be in the St. John’s Cemetery near Dongola.
Friends can call after 11 a.m. and until the service hour at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at the funeral home.
Memorials can be made to the funeral home to assist the family with expenses. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
